InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – PT Kayung Agro Lestari (KAL), the palm oil plantation company operating in West Kalimantan province, managed by PT Austindo Nusantara Jaya, Tbk., (ANJ) Group gets the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certificate as the fulfillment of conditions to responsible and sustainable palm oil.
Locating in the District of Ketapang, PT KAL is the subsidiary of ANJ Group or managed by PT ANJ Agri (ANJA) within the RSPO membership, RSPO 1-0032-07-000-00.
The assessment is the fulfillment to the principles and criteria (P&C RSPO) in PT KAL which was done by PT MUTU Certification International, the accredited institution of RSPO. The certificate to the P&C RSPO to PT KAL has been published on 11 November 2019 and would be for the next five years.
The scope from the certificate is to one palm oil factory of Kayung Agro Lestari and every supplier, including 1 unit of plasma areas (Mitra Laman Mayang Sentosa) which the company manages in Sub district of Matan Hilir Utara, District of Ketapang, West Kalimantan province - Indonesia to the P&C RSPO Generic 2013, the national interpretation of Indonesian Republic (2016), and the fulfillment document of supply chain in RSPO to crude palm oil (CPO) Mill which was been published in November 2014 (the revision to 14 June 2017).
The certificate to PT KAL – the fourth unit of palm oil plantations of ANJ which gets RSPO certificate – showed that ANJ is committed to manage and cultivate the palm oil by prioritizing the responsible development and support the sustainable program of the government.
“The certificate shows that the company has fulfilled series of P&C in the social and environmental cultivation and the best operation to produce palm oil and palm kernel,” CEO Palm Oil ANJ, Geetha Govindan said as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
General Manager PT KAL, Jerileva Purba appreciated the hard work of the team to get and fulfill the conditions to get the RSPO certificate. “This is good for every person in PT KAL and we would do our best to maintain the certificate in the future,” he said.
One of the commitments to cultivate the sustainable plantation in PT KAL is realized in the cultivation of high conservation values (HCV) within the location license, they are, HCV reaching about s 657 hectares (ha) and HCV reaching about 2.330 ha which are known as the Bukit Kiras. PT KAL cultivates the conservation areas about 3.844 ha or 28 percent of the total business rights of the company. (T2)
