InfoSAWIT, UTRECHT - The regional government of Sintang, West Kalimantan province is committed to focus, encourage, and give services to the independent smallholders to fulfil and realize the principles and criteria (P&C) of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), particularly in the legal issue.
“We are committed to encourage the independent smallholders to get and have RSPO certificate or Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certificate and we invited every side to cooperate with us to encourage them,” Regent of Sintang, Jarot Winarno said in Dialog Minyak Sawit Berkelanjutan in Utrecht, Netherland in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.
He also mentioned that when it is the time for the buyers and markets to cooperate to transform sustainable palm oil as the norm by helping; which means to increase the knowledge and skills of the independent smallholders to produce sustainable palm oil; buying; which means to buy the certified palm oil produced by the independent ones; and sharing; which means to share the responsibility to every actor in supporting the independent smallholders.
Every side should do these including the markets and the buyers. “The sustainable palm oil could be interesting and giving the advantage to protect the environment, increase their welfare, and improve their source of life,” Jarot said. (T2)
