4 Smallholders’ Organizations Encouraged to Publish President’s Regulation about ISPO

InfoSAWIT, PONTIANAK – 4 smallholders’ organizations from Persatuan Organisasi Petani Sawit Indonesia (POPSI), such as, Asosiasi Petani Sawit PIR (Aspekpir) Indonesia, Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Apkasindo), Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS), and Asosiasi Sawitku Masa Depanku (Samade), through their chairmen supported to publish President’s Regulation about Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO).

Each chairman or the representative of the organizations told their supports in Indonesian Palm Oil Smallholders Conference & Expo (IPOSC) 2019 : Penguatan SDM dan Kelembagaan Petani Basis Kesuksesan Petani Sawit, 27 November 2019 in Hotel Astons, Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Chairman of Aspekpir Indonesia, Setiyono said that every side should support the improvement that the government has been running and encourage the smallholders to do partnership with the companies.

“Partnership is the successful key to develop the smallholders’ palm oil plantations and the guarantee to fulfill the fruit supply,” he said in IPOSC which was attended by InfoSAWIT, Wednesday (27/11/2019) in Pontianak.

He thought that the partnership is the solution to decide the smallholders’ fruit price because there would be guarantee that the price is based on the decision of the local agency.

Besides, he also supported to publish the President’s Regulation about ISPO. He thought that this would be the entrance to the sustainability of the smallholders. ISPO would improve the governance and the development based on the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the solutions to the plantations in the forest regions.

“We have to support the publication of the President’s Regulation about ISPO. There would be no government that makes the smallholders misery. ISPO would improve the governance and the management. We have no problems to ISPO and RSPO,” he said.

Based on Aspekpir, the perkebunan inti rakyat (PIR) system is in 20 provinces within the members about 335.500 families and involving the plasma smallholders reaching about 617 thousand hectares (ha).

Chairman of Samade, Tolen Ketaren said that the organization is now in 8 provinces within the members from the smallholders, academy, and the practitioners.

He thought that it is admitted or not, it is urgent to publish the President’s Regulation about ISPO. This would be the solution to the smallholders’ issues they face. “It is hoped that every issue that the smallholders face would have solution,” he said.

In the future, the strengthening about the smallholders’ institution, the data of them, starting from the name, width, the legal should be done. “In our internal, we are making the data too,” he said. (T2)
