Palm oil Plantation Supports the Development in East Kalimantan

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Palm oil plantations in the province really become the pillar of economy for most people there. The companies and the smallholders are the actors and they could be found in every district and these make them better than other province.

There are new plans to develop palm oil plantation and to construct palm oil factories in every single year in the province. In the early 2017, according to Plantation Agency, East Kalimantan Province, there were 351 palm oil plantation companies in the end of 2016.

297 Plantation Licenses were published within about 2,26 million hectares of palm oil plantations. 156 plantations have had Business License within about 1,02 million hectares.181,892 hectares were palm oil plantations belonging to the plasma smallholders as the partners of the companies.

The companies have factories too around their plantations. In the early of 2017, it was planned to construct the 20 new factories within the new capacity about 885 tons of fresh fruit bunch (FFB) per hour. It was planned too that 95 factories would operate in the mid-term of 2017.

In the early of 2016, some palm oil plantation companies planned to construct 26 factories so the total reached 87 factories.

Still from the agency, the total capacity of the additional 26 factories would be 1.140 tons of FFB per hour and would be in District of Kutai Kartanegara, Kutai Timur, and Berau. (T1)
