InfoSAWIT, KUALA LUMPUR – Referring to the complaint panel of multi-stakeholder organization, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) has postponed the RSPO certification process to every unit of Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGV Holdings) and it has too to the sorting factory of FGV Holding for they do not obey the decision of complaint panel on 28 November 2018.
The complaint pane is the independent work team which consists of the professionals in palm oil industries and the civil, has reviewed the audit report and f0und that the result is not good. As what the complaint panel told, RSPO secretariat instructed to postpone the principles and criteria (P&C) certificate of FGV to the sorting factories and the sources of material based on the Criteria 4.12.6 in the RSPO certification system to P&C (June 2017). Besides, every activity to get the certificate in the FGV unofficial management should be postponed.
CEO RSPO in duty, Bakhtiar Talhah said that every member should be responsible on their commitment to the P&C RSPO. His side depends on the complaint panel to run every regulation well to confirm the credibility of RSPO.
“It is the work and obligation of every member to make sure that the human rights and labors should be well protected and every lead told by the complaint panel should be obeyed and implemented in the limit time. This is important for me and our members and we have to be aware so that the problems could be immediately solved,” he said as InfoSAWIT quoted from the RSPO official page.
The investigation and monitoring unit (IMU) of RSPO secretariat would monitor and review the report in every three months that FGV Holdings would propose. The revocation of sanction and postponement would depend on the improvement result based on the complaint panel decision after the verification audit done by certification boards starting from 13 January to 31 July 2020.
RSPO also noticed that about the further disobedience, complaint panel would make others needed to FGV Holdings as it is regulated in the Criteria 12.9 from Complaint Procedure and Appeal. (T2)
