InfoSAWIT, DAVOS – In the last day of World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos 2020, Coordinator Minister in Economy of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto attended the meeting proposed by the Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA). The theme of the meeting was 'Collective Action for Forest Positive Future', Thursday (23/1/2020).
In the forum, he explained how to manage palm oil and the programs to solve the deforestation. “This is done because we are the big palm oil producer,” he said as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
He also said that Indonesia could produce 40% of the total vegetable oil in the world. Palm oil plantations also help to reduce the poverty for 10 million citizens of Indonesia.
On the other word, palm oil plantations and industries are the strategic sector for the people’s economy which the government would keep monitor,” he said.
He also mentioned that the President Joko Widodo is also committed to run the smallholders’ replanting program for about 500 thousand hectares. “This is about to increase their harvest maximally,” he said.
In the chance the participants did support and appreciate the government of Indonesia for being successful to reduce the deforestation significantly in the last years. (T2)
