Palm oil Production in Riau Reached 8,72 Million Tons, 70% Should be Sustainable in 2020

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - According to Food Plantation, Agriculture, and Plantation Agency, Riau province, the palm oil plantations in the province reached about 2,49 million hectares (ha) or about 22% of the total palm oil plantations in Indonesia.

The crude palm oil (CPO) production from Riau reached 8,72 million tons or contributed about 24,66% to the total CPO production in Indonesia. The total CPO exports from the province reached US$ 13,706 million in 2016 while in 2017 the exports increased to be US$ 16.164 million.

In July 2017 the province did socialize Forum Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan Indonesia (FoKSBI) and the making of premature early team of FoKSBI. In March to June 2018, there had been proposal to make Draft of FoKSBI Team in the province – the improvement phase and the it was signed. In June 2018 the FoKSBI Team of Riau was inaugurated.

 

From what InfoSAWIT got, the Action Plans of Riau would have some goals, such as, there would be document of reference for the stakeholders to develop sustainable palm oil plantations, namely about the Program Sawit Rakyat to encourage the government to reach the target of 70% of certified production in 2020 (the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture No. 12/2015).
