InfoSAWIT, RIAU – The development and the empowerment to the independent smallholders to empower the institution are necessary to do so that they would not think about the fresh fruit bunch (FFB) selling only to increase their welfare or by expanding their plantations. They should really know and optimize the potentials from their plantations (the wastes) to be the sources of income and to give employment for the other people.
The potentials from the palm oil plantations could be optimized if there are strategic partnerships among the smallholders’ institutions, research institutions, and the companies to increase the welfare of the smallholders.
In the workshop of Penguatan Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) Sawit dengan Pembuatan Arang Briket dari Tandan Kosong Kelapa Sawit (TKKS) done by Asosoasi Sawitku Masa Depanku (Samade), 8 Pebruary 2020, in the hall of PT Perkebunan Negara (PTPN) V, Pekanbaru, Samade did sign the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with research institution, Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS), and PTPN V.
In the MoU besides to empower and develop the smallholders which Samade and PTPN V develop, Samade also asked for PPKS and PTPN V to play their roles after the workshop.
The partnership that Samade and PPKS would do as the consultant to make briquette charcoal would be done by training and controlling to maintain its quality.
“The main thing is that the partnership from PTPN V and Samade hopes the sustainable material to continuous process of the UMKM Sawit from PTPN V, and other big private companies as the members of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA),” Vice Chairman of Samade, Pahala Sibuea said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.
The partnership has also something to do with the fund. That is why the smallholders as the partners of Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) should follow u the MoU to be realized and the smallholders were enthusiastic that the workshop would be realized fast. “The workshop to empower UMKM Sawit was done by the support from PFMA too,” he said.
