Governor of West Kalimantan: Palm oil Should Develop the Economy in the Province

InfoSAWIT, PONTIANAK – In the meeting of Fire (in the forest and areas) Prevention in the midst of August 2019, the governor of West Kalimantan, Sutarmidji asked that the palm oil plantation companies should be in synergy with the provincial government to develop the economy.

He said that there are about 2031 villages in the province. Thousands of them are classified in five groups, they are, independent, advanced, developing, left, and abandoned ones.

“1 independent village is in Kayong Utara and there is no palm oil plantation there. There are 53 advanced villages – 40 of them have no palm oil. Please, check to the spots. There are 372 developing villages and most of them have no palm oil plantation. But about 1600 - left and abandoned villages almost have palm oil plantations there. What would you say?” he said in the treatise which InfoSAWIT recently got.
