In the 16th Annual Meeting of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, in the 15th General Assembly (GA), the members of RSPO agreed to implement the P&C RSPO 2018 version. The policy would adopt the same goal to strengthen thee social development, environment protection, and economic prosperity in every supply chain of sustainable palm oil.
As it is declared and written in the Standard Operational Procedure of RSPO to arrange the National Interpretation, it needs to revise consistently with the P&C RSPO 2018. To arrange the national interpretation, the representatives of membership sectors in RSPO in Indonesia cooperated in the form of Indonesia – National Interpretation Working Group (INA – NIWG)
In Indonesia the INA – NIWG to adjust the P&C RSPO was made on 15 January 2019. It gathered for the first time in February 2019.
In the public consultation on 27 August – 26 October 2019 there were some points to discuss and there were 222 inputs during the period.
The public consultation run on 24 September 2019, which the team reported the latest progress about the adjustment of P&C RSPO 2018 by performing 3 (three) teams for each discussion about the people, planter, and prosperity.
Chairman of INA-NI P&C RSPO 2018, Ismu Zulfikar said that there were some points of discussion and full of arguments, such as, about decent living weight (DLW) for it relates to the worth living standards of the labors in the palm oil plantations.
