InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Since 2016 the palm oil biodiesel mandatory program (mixing palm oil biodiesel to diesel) has been running. In the early of 2020 the target of the program should mix palm oil biodiesel (FAME) reaching 30 percent to diesel or famously known as B30.
In its progress, it is said to be successful and become one instrument to make the palm oil better. The industries are helped when the palm oil gets cheaper globally.
But the smallholders do not get the advantage of the program yet. Though the fresh fruit bunch (FFB) is in fluctuation, the program is thought to give advantage for the biodiesel industries nationally while the smallholders who cultivate 42% of the plantations nationally may be only as the spectators.
In 2020, the program would involve the smallholders. From the information that InfoSAWIT got, one smallholders’ organization, Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) did meet the Director of Bioenergy, General Directorate of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conversion, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR).
