InfoSAWIT, BOGOR - Executive Director of Sawit Watch, Inda Fatinaware said that her side knew that the labors are admitted and the consideration in the President’s Regulation of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO). But ministry of labor is not as the crucial one in the regulation. This is known that the ministry is not put in the board of directors of ISPO.
“The government should be more serious to put palm oil plantation as the strategic one in the regulation because hardly 10 million citizens of Indonesia are the labors in palm oil and depend on this sector,” she said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday (26/3/2020).
She also mentioned the other thing in the regulation is the transparency which is not elaborated too much. The open information to the public to the running certification process and the results of certification are limited still. “The role of the public r the civil groups to make sure that the process runs or not, is less effective or very minimum,” she said.
In the regulation, it is regulated that many sides could take part to the certification process by giving inputs, telling the misdirection, or misusage, and the latest information update.
“But it is not clearly regulated how the process and the role of the public or civil in the process. Besides, it needs to concern about the chance of the civil group in the ISPO committee membership,” she said. (T2)
