InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA - Board of Governor (BoG) of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) decided that every palm oil plantation concession map from RSPO members (except Indonesia) is available to download in the shapefile (format) to analyse geographic information system (GIS).
Now the public could see the plantation maps of the RSPO members through the RSPO interactive mapping, GeoRSPO. It could be downloaded to the independent analysis. Secretariat RSPO still works to make the maps in Indonesia and it is hoped the mapping could run in the next weeks.
Interim CEO RSPO, Bakhtiar Talhah said that this is about to increase the sustainable palm oil chain supply transparency through the same responsibility and collaboration. “I hoped this would support other commodities to do the full transparency in every supply chain and protect the wider forests” he said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT.
RSPO 10th General Assembly (GA 10) in November 2013 officially announced the Resolution 6g., that was, proposing every concession map of RSPO members, both having and not having certificates. (T2)
