InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – To support the government’s program to prevent the fire in the forest and areas which happens in every year, namely in the corona virus (C0v99d-19) pandemic, Minamas Plantation is in cooperation with Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM), Universitas Tanjungpura (Untan).
Director of Universitas Tanjungpura, Prof. Garuda Wiko said that the signing of memorandum of understanding with PT. Budidaya Agrolestari and PT Sandika Natapalma – as the subsidiaries of Minamas Plantation with Universitas Tanjungpura, is to implement the program of desa mandiri cegah api (DMCA) in Marau, West Kalimantan and to formulate the long term approach to increase the welfare and independency of the society around the plantations and share the experiences of best practices in the sustainable agricultural management within zero burning.
“Just like the programs that Minamas Plantation has done in the first place, we hoped that the DMCA program could run well as its guidelines in the field,” Prof. Garuda Wiko said in the online discussion which InfoSAWIT did join, Monday (30/6/2020).
CEO Minamas Plantation, Shamsuddin Muhammad said that ever since it operated, Minamas Plantation implement the zero burning policy tightly in every operational to prevent the fire, namely in the dry season.
He also mentioned that his side has done other initiatives, such as, preventing and handling the fire. In the prevention, the company develops the initiative in the society – base, such as, making masyarakat peduli api (MPA), desa mandiri cegah api (DMCA), guru peduli api, and others.
“In the handling, we intensively keep doing the best to prepare the people around our operational by monitoring the hotspot in every single day, socializing the impacts of the fire to the people, and doing training or simulation to extinguish the fire,” Shamsudddin said. (T2)
