The CPO Production in May 2020 Decreased 1,9%

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – Compared to April 2020, the crude palm oil (CPO) production in 2020 reached 3.616 thousand tons or decreased 1,9%. The domestic consumption also decreased 1,6% to be 1.380 thousand tons. The exports did too about 8,3% to be 2.428 thousand tons.

The total domestic consumption is still positive though the big scale social distancing still runs. One indicator that increased the consumption is the oleo-chemical which increased 31,4% . The biodiesel consumption did too about 23,2%.

“This was supported by the consistent policy published by the government to run B30 program,” Executive Director of Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), Mukti Sardjono said, as in the official written statement to InfoSAWIT, Thursday (9/7/2020).

The CPO production in May 2020 which was smaller than it in April 2020 might be assumed by the long draught effect in 2019 and the season.

The economic progress in China, India, and other countries starts getting better and the vegetable oil demands start increasing for their domestic needs. In Indonesia, the economy starts recovering and in the future, the CPO demands would increase as same as the oleo-chemical and biodiesel. (T2)
