Palm Oil Consumption in July 2020 Increased 97 Thousand Tons

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – According to Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA), compared to June 2020, the domestic consumption in July 2020 increased 97 thousand tons to be 1,42 million tons.

The highest increasing in July 2020 happened for the biodiesel consumption for about 87 thousand tons to be 638 thousand tons. The oleo-chemical consumption increased 6 thousand tons to be 148 thousand tons, while the food products increased about 4 thousand tons to be 642 thousand tons. By July 2020, the total consumption in the domestic reached 10,09 million tons or 3% more than it in last year. The highest increasing was the oleo-chemical reaching 45% and biodiesel reaching 27%, while the food products were 15% smaller.

The crude palm oil (CPO) in July reached 3,84 million tons or 6,2% smaller than it in June 2020. The CPO production compared to last year production in the same period was 8,2% smaller.

“The small production in 2020 might happen for the lack of fertilizer application to minimize the expense when the CPO was cheap last year. It means, the end stocks of CPO in July 2020 reached 3,61 million tons,” Executive Director of IPOA, Mukti Sardjono said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT, Sunday (20/9/2020). (T2)
