InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – It is the evidence of the PT. Sawit Sumbermas Sarana, (SSMS), Tbk to implement its commitment in social and environmental cultivation that its two subsidiaries, PT. Tanjung Sawit Abadi (PKS Malata) and PT Sawit Multi Utama (PKS Nanga Kiu) in District of Lamandau, Central Kalimantan Province got Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certificates.
In total, SSMS has 6 palm oil factories (POFs) getting the certificates in 2020 or reached 80% of 8 (eight) POFs that SSMS manages.
“The rest of POFs, such as, PT. Menteng Kencana Mas (PKS Kanamit) is in assessment process. It is predicted that in the second semester of 2021, there would be the result,” SSMS noted, as in the official information to InfoSAWIT, recently.
By getting the RSPO certificate, besides maintaining the quality and sustainability of business, SSMS also develops the independent smallholders around the company’s operational since 2018.
SSMS encouraged to make Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit (APKSM) in West Kotawaringin within the goal, to take the independent smallholders to implement sustainable palm oil practices.
The members of APKSM reaching about 340 smallholders which was officially made in 2019 got RSPO certificate within the independent smallholder category and covered 710 hectares. “The RSPO certificate covered about 71% of the total target, 1000 hectares that should be achieved in 2020,” SSMS told.
For information, in the end of August 2020, Mitra Mendawai Sejati succeeded to maintain the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) certificate. It is one certificate to supply palm oil biodiesel belonging to SSMS Group as one environmental crude palm oil producer in Indonesia. (T2)
