InfoSAWIT, MIRI – Referring to the information from Malaysian, Malaysian Palm Oil Certification Council (MPOCC), 583 palm oil plantations in Serawak categorized as not plantations, 76 palm oil factories within 4.910 tons of fresh fruit bunch per hour capacity got Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO).
59 got MSPO certificates that consisted of palm oil factory, refinery, oleochemical factory, biodiesel factory, and palm kernel factory categorized as Supply Chain Certification Standard (SCCS) of MSPO.
Chairman of MPOCC, Muhtar Suhaili said that the government of Malaysia is committed to support other stakeholders in Serawak to increase palm oil industrial development nationally.
He also mentioned that in Serawak by September 15th 2020, 1,71 million hectares of palm oil plantations laid on the state. 86,4% of the areas cultivated by the big companies, and the rests 13,6% developed by the smallholders.
As quoted from The Borneo Post, 17.785 independent smallholders who cultivated 99.354,62 hectares palm oil plantations and joined the Sustainable Palm Oil Community (SPOC) and got Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) certificates. (T2)
