The Impact of Pandemic to Palm Oil

InfoSAWIT, JAKARTA – In the early of 2020, the crude palm oil (CPO) production in Indonesia decreased until in the first semester of 2020. But Lakshmi told that the decreasing production happened for the long dry season in 2019, not because of Covid-19 pandemic.

Covid-19 impacts more to palm oil exports from Indonesia because of the limited activity and lockdown in some palm oil importer countries to stop the spread. This gets slower because some regions in Indonesia did big scale social distancing.

As quoted from InfoSAWIT Magazine, November 2020, palm oil exports which were hit by pandemic happened in March 2020. But the exports got better after the new norm runs and the operational activity starts again.

Pandemic opens the new increasing exports to personal care and cleaning liquid when food material consumption from palm oil decreased because of the restricted behavior change. (T2)
