InfoSAWIT, ROKAN HULU – The smallholders joining Koperasi Unit Desa Bangkit Usaha Makmur (KUD-BUM), in Village of Bencah Kesuma, Sub district of Kabun, District of Rokan Hulu, Riau by the end of February 2021 would do first harvest of 447 hectares palm oil plantation. The first planting was held in December 2018 and ready to harvest in about 26 months.
KUD-BUM is one of lucky groups because the first harvest is in the smallholders’ replanting program (SRP) which the fund supports derived from Palm oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA).
But everything was not running well. It was comprehensive to propose SRP fund to get. At the time, the smallholders should fulfill many terms and conditions. But the members of KUD-BUM fulfilled everything because PFMA approved every condition by distributing Rp 22,8 billion in total for them.
SRP in KUD-BUM covered 907 hectares within the members 372 family joining it.
Chairman of KUD-BUM, Khoirum told that SRP was held in two phases, the first one was covering 857 hectares by spending about Rp 21,5 billion; and the second one covered 50 hectares within the fund support about Rp 1,3 billion.
Plantation Agency District of Rokan Hulu procured the certified and superior palm oil seeds to fulfill SRP for the union. It was signed in the form of Surat Perjanjian Kerjasama (SPK).
The fund supports from PFMA to realize SRP are in partnership by buying fresh fruit bunch (off taker) by PT Rohul Sawit Industri (one subsidiary of BGA Group).
But not only as the buyer, the company also developed smallholders about good agricultural practices. The smallholders still cultivate their plantations independently.
“We are thankful that the smallholders got replanting fund supports from PFMA and development from PT Rohul Sawit Industri and would ready to the first harvest,” Khoirum said, as in the official statement to InfoSAWIT recently. (T2)
