Indonesia is the Biggest Palm Oil Producer in the World

PalmOilMagazine, JAKARTA - Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) as the non-profit organization supports sustainable palm oil trade to escalate whole over the world. Many support RSPO in palm oil business globally.

The stakeholders also do sustainable palm oil production. Having the commitment worldwide, palm oil industries nationally would develop the better and more sustainable palm oil plantations. In addition, they also improve the principles and standards.

In 2020 it was predicted that Indonesia produced 51,627 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO). Certified CPO (CSPO) could be about  15,19 million tons. 52% derived from Indonesia but the production was not from Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC).

This, of course, is the huge achievement for Indonesia because as the biggest CPO producer in the world, Indonesia has the predicate as the sustainable palm oil producer.

Director of RSPO Indonesia, Tiur Rumondang thought that the evaluation and improvement of principles and criteria in RSPO (P&C RSPO) keep running once in five years. The members of RSPO derive from stakeholders that play same interests in sustainable business.

“P&C RSPO by the end of 2018 were changed to produce more sustainable, social, and environmental palm oil,” she said.

The progress in palm oil is not about the business but also about the industries. These are part of sustainable development nationally. The stakeholders have the same goals, to welfare the people in the social and environment around. (T2)
