PalmOilMagazine, BOGOR – The conflict of partnership may always happen that palm oil plantation companies are close to develop plasma partnership with the people. This may happen between PT. Agro Artha Surya (PT. AAS) and villagers of Pangea, Sub district of Wonosari, District of Boalemo, Gorontalo Province and also PT. Wira Sawit Mandiri (PT. WSM) with the villagers of Tirto Asri, Sub district of Taluditi, District of Pohuwato, Gorontalo Province.
Staff of Community Reinforcement, Research and Development and also the member of Sawit Watch, Bony told that palm oil companies keep put aside the transparent aspect when making cooperation with the people. “Just like the villagers of Pangea experience with PT. AAS, for instance. Until now the plasma smallholders do not know the clear borders between the main and plasma plantations,” he said, as in the official statement to PalmOilMaganize.
He thought that the plasma smallholders do not get their rights as it is written the memorandum of understanding (MoU). The company does not tell the clear production costs to the plasma and this made their income unclear to get.
“The smallholders were promised to get about Rp 1,3 million per month but the realization is about Rp 22 thousand per month. It is sad to know it and not worth it,” he said.
This should not happen actually. Since the first cooperation, every information and agreement should be clearly known by both sides. The company should fully commit to every commitment and agreement written in the MoU. “For it is not clear since in the first place, the plasma group would get loss themselves. We do protest this for the company arbitrarily does this to the smallholders,” he emphasized.
The same assumption happens in Village of Tirto Asri, Sub district of Taluditi, District of Pohuwato, Gorontalo province by PT. Wira Sawit Mandiri (PT. WSM). The company started cultivating the plantations of the villagers without having MoU with the plasma or local people. (T2)
