Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – According to palm oil roadmap of 2019-2045, palm oil development will be national scale sustainable palm oil industries to be the main pillar of economic development to welfare the people.
Deputy in Maritime and Natural Resources, Arifin Rudiyanto said, the things to realize sustainable palm oil development vision are about to increase crude palm oil (CPO) production by increasing productivity, conducting efficient production in mills.
It will be about to develop downstream industries (added value product, import substitution, export promotion), do research and industry in palm oil industries as the new sustainable development sources, such as, developing more sustainable ecosystem, governance, competitiveness, and developing creative human resources in palm oil industries.
He continued, the things are grouped into three main strategies; the first is to increase productivity; the second is to develop palm oil downstream industries; and the third is to empower sustainable ecosystem, governance, and capacity building. “Palm oil productivity target in Indonesia in 2045 would be 6,75 tons per hectare or equal to 92,45 million tons of crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel oil (PKO),” Arifin said.
Unfortunately, until now palm oil industries still face issues, such as, small productivity which the average is about 3,6 tons/hectares though the potential could be reaching 7,5 tons/hectare. It happens for many planters planted fake seeds; their plantations are old; or planters do not implement good agricultural practices. (T2)
