Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – Human resource development that Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) funds, in the form of scholarship to the students of (Diploma) D1, D3, D4 would direct and indirectly impact to palm oil plantation development nationally. For the planters and their families, there would be direct impact.
Director of Plantation Protection, Baginda Siagian said it in a webinar and live streaming “Dampak Positif Program PSR, Sarpras dan Pengembangan SDM Bagi Petani Sawit” the third series with the topic, “ Pendanaan BPDPKS untuk Pengembangan SDM Sawit” that plantation media and PFMA conducted.
“We hope, the graduate could return to their hometown to develop their regions, do dissemination to what they got during the study to the people around,” Siagian said.
General Directorate of Plantation Ministry of Agriculture should cooperate with the companies. At AKPY (Akademi Komunitas Perkebunan Yogyakarta), as a matter of fact, 80% of D1 students have been ‘booked’ by palm oil plantation companies. “I do not know about the students of D3 and D4. There would be monitoring and evaluation to each institution. It would be better if they are ‘booked’ one year before they graduate,” he said.
“For being in charge in this program, we hope, the graduate should return to their regions for about two years to service, develop the plantations in their regions. Share the knowledge and technology to the people around. After that, if they want to work at a company, go ahead namely if there is good opportunity,” he said.
The other alternative is to study again. The alumni of D1 should study at D3 or D4, while the alumni of D3 could study to undergraduate level. Working in palm oil plantation company is the main interests for the students that got scholarship. He convinced that the salary would be much more.
Since 2017 to February 2022 the total students that got scholarship reached 3.625 men while the total graduate getting the scholarship reached 1.750 men. They were at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pertanian Agrobisnis Perkebunan (STIPAP) which is now becoming Institut Teknologi Sawit Indonesia Medan about 180 men; Politeknik Kampar Riau about 245 men; Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi Bekasi about 780 men; Institut Teknologi Sains Bandung Bekasi about 50 men; AKPY 1.400 men; Politeknik Lembaga Pendidikan Perkebunan (LPP) Yogyakarta about 610 men.
In 2021 technical recommendation that General Directorate of Plantation published to get scholarship for 660 men, were D1, D3, D4 at 6 universities. While in 2022 the target would be reaching 1.000 students. The programs also multiply, they are, D2 and undergraduate. (T2)
