Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – According to President’s Instruction Number 6 / 2019 about Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN-KSB) of 2019 - 2024, it has five components and the fifth is The fifth one is to support and accelerate Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification and escalate palm oil product market access. The government keeps encouraging ISPO implementation for the stakeholders and planters.
According to Deputy in Food and Agribusiness Coordination Coordinator Ministry in Economy, Musdhalifah Machmud, actually ISPO has been running since 2011 through Regulation of Minister of Agriculture and renewed by Regulation of Minister of Agriculture in 2015. In 2020 the government published President’s Regulation about ISPO which is the perfection of Regulation of Minister of Agriculture about ISPO.
“By the publication of President’s Regulation Number 44 / 2020, it is hoped, ISPO certification governance could be better and RAN KSB implementation would encourage to ISPO acceleration,” she said to Palmoilmagazine.
ISPO certification is voluntarily for the planters. But the government would deliver financial support for the planters to get ISPO certificate which is regulated in Regulation of Minister of Agriculture about fund advantage that Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA) manages.
Chairman of Secretariat Team of RAN KSB, Dedi Junaedi said, that financial supports from PFMA could be through the program that central government would conduct, such as, infrastructure programs for palm oil plantation to fund initial certification process for groups/unions/associations of planters and human resource development. “The programs are in synergy with RAD KSB target to get ISPO certificate for the planters,” he said.
ISPO implementation through RAN KSB/RAD KSB, he continued, should run by getting real data of planters, Cultivation Document publication as the conditions to propose ISPO certification process and trainings for the smallholders. “Delivering incentive in ISPO process could be from initial fund to palm oil plantation infrastructures,” he said.
He hoped, the more Cultivation Documents to be published, RAD KSB publication and execution teams in 26 provinces where palm oil grows, the more planters get ISPO certificate in Indonesia. “And ISPO acceleration can be immediately realized,” Dedi said. (T2)
