Apical Group and DKI Province Plant 3000 Mangroves to Celebrate DKI Jakarta Anniversary

PT Asianagro Agungjaya (PT AAJ) collaborated with the Jakarta Provincial Government through DKI Jakarta Parks and Forests Service to plant 3,000 mangroves in the Pantai Indah Kapuk Mangrove Ecotourism

Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – To celebrate DKI Jakarta anniversary the 495th, Apical Group, one sustainable palm oil industry through its business unit, PT Asianagro Agungjaya (PT AAJ) collaborated with the Province of DKI Jakarta through Landscape and Forest DKI Jakarta planted 3.000 mangrove in Mangrove Ecotourism at Pantai Indah Kapuk, Thursday (23/6/2022).

For information, mangrove forests are essential to provide and maintain natural conservation, quality of water, slow down erosion, absorb carbon two to four times bigger than tropical forests, keep carbon three to five times per area more than tropical forests.

Apical Director, Bernard A. Riedo mentioned, the mangrove planting was one real action from group philosophy, which is, good for climate which includes 5C (good for community, good for country, good for climate, good for customer, dan good for company). Besides, the real sustainable commitment in the long term is that Apical 2030 that planting mangrove is one of our programs.

“We are committed to focus on sustainability in social, environment, and governance of our integrated business from the upstream to downstream sectors,” Bernard said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine, Wednesday (22/6/2022).

He continued the mangrove planting was the same moment of DKI Jakarta anniversary because Apical Group wanted to deliver something useful for Jakarta. “To celebrate DKI Jakarta anniversary with the theme “Kolaborasi, Akselerasi, Elevasi”, Apical Group celebrates it by collaborating with the government, in this case, DKI Jakarta Province, Landscape and Forest Agency DKI Jakarta to support the government and succeed mangrove rehabilitation here,” he said.

Head of Forest Division Landscape and Forest Agency DKI Jakarta, Dirja Kusumah said, the government in this case, the agency really supports what PT Asianagro Agungjaya (Apical Group) initiated.

“Forest ecosystem conservation including mangrove should be more to do because it has lots of natural diversity. There are so much potential in mangrove forest ecosystem to get. It plays important roles to climate change in Indonesia. That is why we do support Apical Group for its contribution to conserve mangrove specifically in Jakarta. Hopefully there would be more companies like Apical Groups that participate in climate change in Indonesia,” Dirja said.

Apical Group, the Landscape and Forest Agency, and scout of Saka Wanabakti developed by the agency planted thousands seeds of mangrove.

In the same time, the company also presented foods which were processed from mangrove, from the pidada (Sonneratia sp.) it was like mangrove syrup, mangrove dodol, mangrove chips which were processed and cooked by developed groups of the agency. The groups explained their products by hoping that the people would know that mangrove is potential not only for the environment but also in economy for it can be processed to be kinds of foods.  (T2)
