Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – Some proposals to develop downstream industries, such as, the construction of crude palm oil (CPO) mills and red palm oil (RPO) mini mills in cooperation – base have been approved. It is hoped, there would be smallholders’ fresh fruit bunch (FFB) purchase increasing.
Minister of Cooperation and Small Medium Business (SMB), Teten Masduki told that after joining meeting led by President Joko Widodo at Istana Merdeka, Monday (18/7/2022).
Teten mentioned, President Joko Widodo approved to construct RPO mill. This would be the solution because 35% of CPO production were produced by the smallholders.
“Seen from the plantations, more than 41% of the total plantations in Indonesia, I think, this could be the solution to supply palm cooking oil for the people because RPO is healthy, has higher protein, vitamin A too,” Teten said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine.
He also mentioned, Pusat Penelitian Kelapa Sawit (PPKS) Medan has designed the technology to produce RPO and hoped to get detail engineering design and could be produced to be pilot project. He also told, his side proposed it to President Joko Widodo to construct CPO and RPO mill in cooperation – base to begin in January 2023. (T5)
