Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – In an event of Orientasi Pembangunan Desa Berkelanjutan which Asosiasi Pemerintah Desa Seluruh Indonesia (APDESI) and Asosiasi Kabupaten Penghasil Sawit Indonesia (AKPSI) did on Saturday (16/7/2022) in Jakarta, audit palm oil plantation was discussed to improve the governance nationally.
Coordinator Minister in Maritime and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan told, palm oil governance audit would help to complete data and information from the upstream to downstream sectors. This would easily publish more accurate policy.
“Now through Sistem Informasi Minyak Goreng Curah Rakyat (SIMIRAH) 2.0, crude palm oil (CPO) and palm cooking oil distribution data can be gathered but it still needs perfection,” he said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine, Saturday (16/7/2022).
Pandjaitan also hoped, many would help complete the data and information needed and the government could accurately determine what parameter to be hold on, what right policy to be published to get the parameter.
“Palm oil governance is very complex and it involves many stakeholders. Many targets in the upstream and downstream sectors should balance because there is trade off among one target to another,” he said.
He continued palm oil plays massive roles to develop the economy in Indonesia when facing the economic pressure from the world in the two sectors. Pandjaitan mentioned, as one of the biggest economic contributors and exchange, fresh fruit bunch (FFB) price should remain good. Palm cooking oil should be in economic price to maintain the consumption level.
“The government keeps maintaining the procurement and economic price of palm cooking oil for the people at Rp 14 thousand. We are doing our best to maintain the smallholders’ welfare and make sure that the business fairly runs,” Pandjaitan said. (T2)
