Palmoilmagazine, PEKANBARU – PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) V took about 5.000 plasma smallholders to get Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certificate. Chief Executive Officer PTPN V, Jatmiko Santosa said this is the strategic way of the company to support the government which is regulated in the Regulation of Minister of Agriculture (RMA) Number 38 / 2020 about the Implementation of ISPO.
“We do support the government to escalate those to get ISPO namely for the smallholders,” he said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine recently.
He also said, if the plasma smallholders of PTPN implement ISPO that they cultivate about 10.018 ha, this would become part of the company’s commitment to increase their economy by having spirit of sustainability.
The program heading to ISPO certificate has been running since 2022. The latest, the company attended 66 representative smallholders from 22 koperasi unit desa (KUD) that PTPN V developed.
They were told about understanding on the obligation in ISPO implementation, besides, the activity that Bagian Petani Mitra PTPN V did, also presented the representatives of Riau Province Plantation Agency and the internal company to describe and strengthen about work health and safety.
“This is history, our start to fulfill ISPO. We have to get the same path that ISPO is the policy published by the government to escalate palm oil competition from Indonesia in the globe. By having ISPO, we also participate to fulfill the commitment of the government to escalate palm oil images in the international world,” Santosa said. (T2)
