Palmoilmagazine.com, ACEH UTARA – The members of Serikat Petani Kelapa Sawit (SPKS) focuses to reinforce the smallholders’ institution because it would be one condition to improve sustainable palm oil governance, and support the government to empower the people’s plantations to be more sustainable.
This is the same with some policies in national scale, such as, President’s Instruction Number 6 / 2019 about Rencana Aksi Nasional Kelapa Sawit Berkelanjutan (RAN-KSB) in 2019 – 2024; and President’s Regulation Number 44 / 2020 about Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil Plantation Certification System and Acceleration of Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP) with the support of Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA)
The policies in national scale need supports from the strong smallholders’ institutions to be realized well both in groups and cooperation of palm oil plantations.
Chairman of SPKS Aceh Utara, Abu Bakar told, his side is focusing the smallholders’ group, cooperation development in some sub districts, such as, Cot Girek, Langkahan, Lhoksukon, Baktiya, and Pirak Timu in District of Aceh Utara.
“There have been one plantation producer cooperation ‘Berkat Bunga Damai’ and nine groups, such as, Kelompok Tani Jaroe Di Ateuh, Gapoktan Bunga Damai, Gapoktan Makaryo Damai, Kelompok Tani Kayee Jameun, KUD Tani Jaya Kayee Jameun, Gapoktan Bunga Seroja, Kelompok Tani Langkah Maju, Kelompok Tani Alue Bendera and an Kelompok Tani Rimba Pirak, which were established and developed,” he said to Palmoilmagazine.com, Tuesday (3/1/2022).
Then through the institutions, SPKS Aceh Utara would deliver developments, such as, training of groups, good agricultural practice (GAP) about plantation cultivation, and encourage partnership, help the smallholders to get access in SRP and Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certificate within the support of PFMA.
Abu Bakar told example that on Wednesday (21/12/2022) SPKS Aceh Utara independently gathered the representatives from 9 sub districts to socialize the acceleration of SRP and the potential to get infrastructure helps from PFMA. “IT was running because many smallholders do not understand the information from some policies in national scale for all these years,” he said.
Head of Sub district of Cot Girek, Kamaruddin attended it and appreciated what SPKS Aceh Utara did in developing the smallholders’ groups in his region. He also supported what SPKS and cooperation proposed to get Infrastructure within the fund from PFMA.
Meanwhile Head of Organization and Membership SPKS, Sabarudin told, the focus of SPKS as the smallholders’ organization is about to develop smallholders’ organizations which are powerful, delivers trainings as well. These are parts of SPKS commitment to support the government’s regulations.
“In 2022 SPKS successfully trained about 3.000 smallholders, developed 8 cooperation; 2 cooperation got RSPO and ISPO certificates. We hope, the cooperation available could get the support from the local governments and PFMA,” Sabarudin said. (T2)
