PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) Palm Business, through its two business divisions—Asian Agri (upstream sector) and Apical (downstream sector)—continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainability with a strong focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its operations. Johan Kurniawan, Director of Corporate Affairs at RGE Palm Business, affirmed the company’s dedication to overcoming challenges in achieving its sustainability targets.
Johan emphasized that while some processes are still ongoing, the company remains on track in implementing its sustainability strategies. “We continue to move forward despite external challenges beyond our control, such as partner involvement and government regulations. However, we are committed to executing what is within our control,” he stated to Palmoilmagazine.com recently in Jakarta.
A key priority for RGE Palm Business is reducing greenhouse gas emissions, not only at processing facilities but across the entire supply chain, from plantations to production. Johan highlighted the company’s focus on optimizing existing systems. “We currently have 11 biogas facilities, and we are continuously working to maximize their usage to achieve significant emission reductions,” he explained.
Additionally, the company is exploring new strategies for renewable energy implementation, including further research into biogas utilization at an industrial scale. While these technological applications are still in the development phase, Johan is optimistic that such innovations will play a major role in achieving emission reduction goals.
“We closely monitor industry trends and adjust our sustainability strategies accordingly. Emission reduction must be comprehensive, covering not just processing plants but the entire palm oil value chain,” he added.
With various initiatives in place, RGE Palm Business reaffirms its long-term commitment to sustainability. Johan concluded with confidence that the company will continue to adapt and innovate in addressing challenges within the palm oil sector. (P2)
