PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Nearly 100 oil palm seed customers from across Indonesia convened at a customer gathering organized by PT Dami Mas Sejahtera, the seed division under Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food, on Thursday (Sept 18, 2025). The event served as a platform for knowledge exchange, research-based solutions, and a collective commitment to boosting productivity without land expansion.
With global palm oil production showing signs of stagnation, improving yields has become increasingly crucial. The Indonesian government has set an ambitious target to nearly double productivity to 7 tons per hectare, making innovation and collaboration central to achieving this goal.
“For both large estates and smallholders, the key step forward lies in replanting with improved seed varieties and adopting best agronomic practices,” said Septianus Harianja, VP of Agronomy at Sinar Mas Agribusiness and Food, in a statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on Thursday (Sept 18, 2025).

He emphasized that research support from the SMART Research Institute (SMARTRI), combined with field assistance, provides practical solutions to productivity and sustainability challenges.
A highlight of the event was the introduction of the latest seed technology: DxP Dami Mas IGR (Intermediate Ganoderma Resistant). Developed through years of research, this seed variety has proven more resistant to Ganoderma boninense, a destructive basal stem rot disease that poses one of the greatest threats to oil palm plantations. In affected areas, the IGR variety demonstrated up to 50% better performance compared to conventional varieties.
In addition to showcasing seed innovations, the gathering featured practical discussions on replanting techniques, a critical stage that determines long-term productivity.
“The presence of both new and long-time customers reflects a strong spirit of collaboration to advance Indonesia’s palm oil industry. We remain committed to supporting effective, efficient, and sustainable replanting practices,” said Suryanto Bun, CEO of PT Dami Mas Sejahtera.
As a gesture of appreciation, Dami Mas presented awards to customers in three categories: Continuous Commitment Partner, Innovation Partnership, and Top Volume Growth.
Through the combination of scientific research and on-the-ground agronomic practices, Dami Mas reaffirms its role as a trusted partner for growers. From providing high-quality seeds to technical support, the company strives to pave the way toward higher productivity, stronger resilience, and a more sustainable future for the palm oil industry.
