PALMOILMAGAZINE, CEMPAGA HULU – In many villages across Central Kalimantan, parents often worry about the same question: what future awaits their children after high school? That concern is gradually being answered through an initiative by Bumitama (BGA Group) under its Bumitama Berdaya (Support and Empowerment) education program.
The program focuses on mentoring rural youth as they prepare for admission into the national police and military academies. Over a three-month period, participants receive academic tutoring, physical training, discipline-building, and mental motivation. The aim is straightforward—bridging the gap in access to information and resources that has long made the dream of joining the TNI or police academies seem out of reach for many village youth.
This year, the results have begun to shine. Two young men from Cempaga Hulu Subdistrict successfully achieved their lifelong ambitions. Gorvin Ericson Varel Sihombing, from Mirah Kalanaman Village, is now serving as a TNI enlisted soldier in Jakarta. Meanwhile, Muhamat Parasastiyuo from Pantai Harapan Village is undergoing training as a TNI enlisted soldier in West Kalimantan.

“The support we received went beyond academic and physical preparation—it gave us the confidence that we had the same opportunities as young people from other regions,” said one participant in an official statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com, Friday (Sept 19, 2025).
The success of these two young men has become a source of pride for their communities, bringing new hope to families who once feared for their children’s uncertain futures. Instead of anxiety, parents now feel pride as they see their children step onto the national stage of service and dedication.
For Bumitama, these achievements align with its commitment to invest in social development within its operational areas. Through Bumitama Berdaya, the company strives to balance business goals with community empowerment. From Cempaga Hulu comes the growing belief that even children from remote villages can bring honor to their communities and their nation through service and dedication. (P2)
