PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEDAN – Students of SDS Anwar Karim from Riau, who perform under the Marching Band Bahana Anwar Karim, achieved an outstanding milestone at the Grand Prix Junior Band (GPJB) XXI–2025 held at the Indoor Stadium Sport Center Tangerang on November 16. As one of Indonesia’s most prestigious national marching band competitions, GPJB gathered 6 junior teams, 4 youth teams, and 3 senior teams from across the country.
Proud Achievements from Plantation-Based Schools
Bahana Anwar Karim is composed of students from SDS Anwar Karim I and SDS Anwar Karim II. Formed in 2023, the team has steadily developed into one of the most promising elementary-level marching bands in Indonesia. At GPJB XXI–2025, the team brought home an impressive list of awards:
Champion (1st Place): Junior Concert, Field Commander, Entertainment, Visual , Presentation, and Musical Presentation
Second Place: Field Commander, Duet Horn Display, and Color Guard
Third Place: Ensemble Music, and Ensemble Visual
Other Awards: 4th Rank – Junior Division, and Favorite Award – Junior Division
These achievements highlight the dedication of the students, coaches, and school management who have supported them from the start.

The team’s success stems from a well-structured and intensive preparation process—strict time management, disciplined training schedules, equipment upgrades, and pre-competition rehearsals.
Halimatun Sakdiah, School Coordinator of Yayasan Anwar Karim, noted:
“Despite various challenges—from instilling discipline, maintaining students’ physical endurance, to educating parents about the importance of extracurriculars—our students showed exceptional dedication. This victory gives them valuable national-level experience, boosts their confidence, and strengthens the credibility of our team.”
She added that the school aims to continue advancing by targeting international competitions such as the Piala Raja in Yogyakarta and aspiring to perform at the State Palace.
Education in Plantations, Opportunities for the Nation’s Children
SDS Anwar Karim operates under Yayasan Anwar Karim and is located within Musim Mas Group’s plantation areas, serving children of plantation workers and surrounding communities. The school emphasizes character-building, discipline, and talent development through both academic and extracurricular programs.
Through the foundation, Musim Mas currently manages 11 kindergartens, 11 elementary schools, and 3 junior high schools
