PALMOILMAGAZINE, PALEMBANG — The South Sumatra Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency (BKHIT Sumsel) has facilitated the export of 95,400 oil palm seeds from South Sumatra to Peru, following the successful completion of comprehensive quarantine inspections and certification in line with the importing country’s requirements.
Head of BKHIT South Sumatra, Sri Endah Ekandari, said the inspections were carried out by officers at the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin (SMB) II International Airport Service Unit in Palembang to ensure full compliance with Peru’s technical import standards.
“To facilitate this export, our officers at the SMB II International Airport Service Unit conducted thorough inspections and certification of the oil palm seeds,” Sri Endah said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from Antara on Friday (30/1/2026).
She explained that a key focus of the inspection process was ensuring the seeds were free from quarantine plant pests and diseases (OPTK) of concern to the destination country, particularly Marasmius sp., which is among the organisms strictly regulated by Peruvian quarantine authorities.
The inspection process included document verification, physical examination, and plant health testing in accordance with plant quarantine standards. Based on the results, all oil palm seeds were declared healthy and eligible for export.
Sri Endah added that the shipment was also supported by a valid import permit issued by the Peruvian authorities, ensuring that the export process complied with applicable international regulations.

Export services were conducted through the integrated Single Submission Quarantine Customs (SSmQC) system, which streamlines procedures by simplifying services, accelerating inspection workflows, and enhancing transparency for exporters.
According to Sri Endah, strict compliance with the technical requirements of destination countries is crucial not only to ensure smooth export processes but also to safeguard the reputation of Indonesian commodities in global markets.
“Our officers conducted meticulous inspections to ensure that every exported oil palm seed meets the plant health requirements of the destination country, thereby maintaining international market confidence,” she said.

“Strong synergy between compliant exporters and professional quarantine services is expected to continue driving the competitiveness of Indonesian exports in the global market,” Sri Endah concluded. (P2)
