PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (PFMA/BPDPKS ) has undertaken numerous research initiatives through its Grant Riset Sawit program. These research projects have now reached a commercial stage, and in a bid to promote the palm oil industry, PFMA is offering opportunities for industry players to benefit from the outcomes of these studies.
Arfie Thahar, Head of the Service Program Division within the Directorate of Fund Distribution at PFMA, stated that any palm oil company can freely utilize the research findings provided by PFMA.
However, in cases where the technology resulting from the research is patented by the researcher, interested industries can seek cooperative arrangements to access and utilize this technology.

“For the industries that want to take for advantage (research result), it is free but if the technology has got its patent by the inventor(s), the industry could get cooperation,” he said in Talk Show Road to Perisai 2023 that Palmoilmagazine.com saw online at Youtube of PFMA, Wednesday (27/9/2023).
Prior PFMA clarified about intellectual rights management in its relation with the research result. They even contacted Ministry of Finance by sending documents to know if there is regulation about profit sharing from what PFMA researched. The answer was there is no tariff or zero percent.
Arfie thought, this is part of the commitment in PFMA to encourage palm oil industrial development – make research and innovation as significant pillar. By this chance, palm oil industries could take for advantages the results and contribute positively to develop palm oil plantations in Indonesia. (T2)
