PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA The Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) has allocated funding to support a range of initiatives, including human resource (HR) development in the palm oil sector. This program includes not only scholarships for university students but also training programs for farmers and other key stakeholders.

“We are committed to improving the quality of human capital in the palm oil industry—through scholarships and direct training,” said Mohammad Alfansyah, Director of Fund Distribution at BPDPKS, during the 2025 Socialization Event for the Palm Oil Plantation Human Resource Development Education Scholarship Program (SDMPKS), as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com on Friday (May 16, 2025).

Alfansyah noted that BPDPKS has partnered with 41 universities across Indonesia to help channel graduates into various roles within the palm oil value chain—ranging from plantations and biodiesel plants to supporting industries.

One of the core goals of the program, Alfansyah emphasized, is to ensure that graduates return to contribute directly to the development of palm oil plantations nationwide. Despite logistical challenges in placing graduates in remote areas, BPDPKS remains optimistic about its target of enrolling 4,000 new students this year.

“As of 2025, we are managing approximately 5,200 active students,” Alfansyah said. “We aim to recruit an additional 4,000 students this year, with the expectation that they will make meaningful contributions to the palm oil sector.”

The program has received full backing from the government. The Ministry of Finance has set aside a dedicated budget to support education and training initiatives aimed at improving the sector’s workforce. Training programs are set to begin in December 2025, with 1,700 participants expected to take part.

The initiative also highlights the importance of collaboration with educational institutions to ensure that graduates can be effectively absorbed into the palm oil industry upon completing their studies. BPDPKS hopes this program will help close the gap in skilled labor needs and strengthen human resource capacity in this strategic sector. (P2)
