PALMOILMAGAZINE, BEKASI – Joyful celebrations filled the hall of Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi (Poltek CWE) as the institution held its 3rd Applied Bachelor’s and 17th Associate Degree graduation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year. A total of 166 graduates were officially inaugurated, marking the start of their journey into the professional world.

In his address, Poltek CWE Director St. Nugroho Kristono expressed pride and shared words of encouragement.
“Graduation is not only a symbol of completing one stage of life but also the gateway to a more challenging phase. As independent individuals, graduates are expected to apply their knowledge and experience to build a stronger, more sustainable palm oil industry,” he said during the ceremony in Bekasi on Saturday (September 27, 2025).

Kristono emphasized that many graduates come from smallholder families. He encouraged them to apply their expertise not only in large companies but also in developing their family farms.
“Smallholder replanting, infrastructure development, and ISPO certification all need professional assistance. This is where Poltek CWE alumni can contribute,” he added.

The polytechnic instills three values in its students—Tanggap, Tanggon, Trengginas. Tanggap represents responsiveness and awareness, Tanggon symbolizes resilience and dedication, while Trengginas reflects agility and precision in action. “These three values form the integrity and leadership qualities that the palm oil industry needs,” Kristono explained.

Ready for the Job Market

Notably, even before the graduation ceremony, 47 graduates (28%) had already secured jobs at leading companies such as Hartono Plantation Indonesia Agro Group, Ciliandry Anky Abadi Group, Sungai Budi Group, Musim Mas, Triputra Agro Persada, and PT Anugerah Energi Tama.

Poltek CWE also extended appreciation to the Indonesian Plantation and Horticulture Professional Certification Body (LSP) and the Industrial Technology and Management LSP for supporting competency certification, as well as scholarship providers including the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), the Directorate General of Plantations (Ministry of Agriculture), and CSR programs from palm oil companies.

Over the past year, the polytechnic has recorded significant achievements. Its D3 Plantation Cultivation and D4 Plantation Crop Production Technology programs are preparing for ISO 21001:2018 certification. Faculty research output has increased, while student innovations—particularly IoT-based applications—have gained momentum. Three student teams even advanced to the initial stage of the Palm Oil Hackathon organized by GAPKI and BPDP.

To strengthen soft skills, pencak silat has been introduced as a mandatory course for new students. The institution has also recruited new doctoral-level faculty, including Dr. Sylvia Madusari, Ph.D. Meanwhile, construction is underway for a new dormitory with a capacity of 300 students, reflecting steady enrollment growth.

Closing his remarks, Kristono voiced optimism for the graduates’ future.
“With the knowledge, skills, and values they carry, our graduates are well prepared to contribute to the advancement of Indonesia’s palm oil sector—boosting productivity, driving innovation, and supporting sustainability,” he said. (P2)
