SRP Fund for 3,250 Hectares in 3 Districts of West Sulawesi

PALMOILMAGAZINE, KENDARI – In an effort to enhance palm oil plantation productivity and improve the welfare of smallholders in West Sulawesi Province, the Plantation Agency of West Sulawesi initiated significant collaboration with the General Directorate of Plantation under the Ministry of Agriculture, focusing on the Smallholders Replanting Program (SRP) fund support for the year 2024.

The cooperation agreement was formalized during a coordination meeting held at Hotel Pullman, Jakarta Central Park Podomoro City, West Jakarta, on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Herdin Ismail, the Head of the Plantation Agency in West Sulawesi Province, and Ardi Praptono, the Director of Palm Oil Plantation and Various Palm within the General Directorate of Plantation under the Ministry of Agriculture, who also serves as the Chairman of the SRP Secretariat in the directorate, were the signatories of this collaboration.

The SRP stands as a national strategic program outlined in the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture (RMA) 03/2022 in conjunction with RMA Number 19/2023. This program encompasses various aspects such as human resource development, research and development, as well as infrastructure enhancement within palm oil plantations.

In 2024, West Sulawesi got SRP target about 3.250 hectares in three regencies, they are, Pasangkayu about 1.000 hectares, Mamuju about 2.000 hectares, and Polewali Mandar about 250 hectares.

Herdin Ismail hoped that the cooperation would be running well with the full spirit from the people particularly from the smallholders in the province. He thought, the cooperation would be the real proof that the province, through plantation agency fully supports to escalate palm oil plantation productivity and people’s welfare.

He also emphasized the SRP would be the strong base for the smallholders and related stakeholders to escalate the productivity, welfare the people and realize food security nationally.
