PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Nine women smallholders cultivating cocoa, coffee, rubber, and palm oil are set to depart for Europe as part of the Indonesian Smallholders Roadshow in Brussels, London, and Rome from September 13–19, 2025.

The delegation will be led by Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arif Havas Oegroseno. Unlike typical diplomatic missions, this initiative directly involves smallholder farmers—those most affected by the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

“Through this mission, women smallholders will have the rare opportunity to engage directly with European business leaders and commodity importers, while also meeting with EUDR policymakers in Brussels, London, and Rome,” said Diah Suradirejad, Senior Environmental Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via her LinkedIn post on Saturday (Sept 6, 2025).

In addition to voicing smallholders’ perspectives to the European Parliament, European Commission, and Council of the EU member states, the farmers are also scheduled to meet with international media and non-governmental organizations.

“I am honored to accompany these nine women farmer champions. Hopefully, they will be able to bring the aspirations of Indonesia’s smallholders to the European stage,” Diah added. (P2)
