PALMOILMAGAZINE, POHUWATO – Controversy surrounding Koperasi KIB is intensifying as community members question whether the cooperative was established based on the aspirations of plasma farmers or driven primarily by internal company decisions.

According to an official statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com on April 9, 2026, several local representatives argue that the formation of Koperasi KIB did not follow the standard mechanism of a members’ meeting—an essential principle in cooperative establishment.

A local community figure noted that the cooperative appears to have been formed through a top-down approach, with minimal involvement from its supposed members. This has raised concerns over its legitimacy, as farmers—who should act as both owners and decision-makers—were allegedly excluded from the process.

Criticism has grown stronger following statements made by related parties in the media, which are perceived to suggest a dominant role of the company in shaping the cooperative.

In principle, cooperatives are economic institutions built on member participation and democratic governance. Establishing one without proper deliberation is therefore seen as a violation of these core values and may carry potential legal implications.

The situation has also triggered unease among plasma farmers, many of whom claim they were not involved in decisions that directly affect their economic future.

One farmer expressed disappointment over the lack of opportunity to participate from the outset, raising doubts about the cooperative’s commitment to representing members’ interests.

Observers warn that if these allegations are proven, the cooperative’s legal standing could be challenged for failing to meet fundamental requirements such as member participation and transparency.

As of now, there has been no official clarification from either the company or Koperasi KIB management regarding the accusations.
