PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The price of crude palm oil (CPO) at PT. Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom was set at Rp 13,725/kg on Monday (Jan 20, 2025), reflecting an increase of 1.03%. This follows a previous price of Rp 13,585/kg on Friday (Jan 17, 2025), marking an increase of Rp 140/kg or 0.93%.
According to KPBN data, the CPO prices were as follows: Belawan & Dumai: Rp 13,725, Talang Duku: Rp 13,525, Palembang: Rp 13,575 (WD). Highest bid: Rp 13,488.
Despite the recent increase, the weekly CPO prices at KPBN for the period January 13–17, 2025, recorded a 0.52% decrease to Rp 13,914.40/kg compared to Rp 13,987.40/kg during the January 6–10 period.

Meanwhile, as reported by Reuters, Malaysian palm oil futures prices rose for the second consecutive session on Monday, Jan 20, 2025, supported by stronger vegetable oil prices on the Dalian Commodity Exchange and favorable trading margins. However, market players remain cautious, awaiting Malaysia’s palm oil export data for the January 1–20 period.
The benchmark palm oil futures contract FCPOc3 for April 2025 delivery on the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange rose by RM 55 per ton or 1.31%, reaching RM 4,245 (US$ 943.75) per metric ton by midday. Despite this daily rise, the contract prices had declined 4.51% over the previous week.
India’s Palm Oil Imports Decline
India’s palm oil imports hit their lowest level in nearly five years in January due to negative refining margins and the premium of tropical oils over competitors. This prompted buyers to switch to more competitively priced soybean oil, according to government and industry sources.
However, demand from India is expected to rebound ahead of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, said Anilkumar Bagani, Head of Commodity Research at the Sunvin Group.
Elsewhere, Dalian’s most active soybean oil contract DBYcv1 rose by 1.72%, while its palm oil contract DCPcv1 gained 1.39%. The Chicago Board of Trade was closed on Monday due to a public holiday. (P2)
