PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – The price of crude palm oil (CPO) at PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom fell to IDR 13,211/kg on Friday, May 16, 2025. This marks a 1.21% drop, or IDR 162/kg lower than the previous day’s price of IDR 13,373/kg (Thursday, May 15).
According to data obtained by Palmoilmagazine.com from KPBN, the CPO price Franco Belawan and Dumai was set at IDR 13,211/kg. In Teluk Bayur, the price opened at IDR 13,081/kg but was withdrawn (WD), with the highest bid reaching only IDR 12,915/kg. Meanwhile, CPO at Franco Talang Duku was priced at IDR 13,011/kg.
While domestic prices softened, the Malaysian palm oil market posted a slight gain. According to Reuters, benchmark palm oil futures in Malaysia edged higher on Friday (May 17, 2025), set to log their first weekly gain in three weeks. The uptrend was driven by stronger export data for the first half of May, despite pressure on other vegetable oils like soybean oil on the Chicago and Dalian exchanges.

The benchmark CPO contract for August delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange rose by RM6 per metric ton, or about 0.16%, to RM3,862 per ton during midday trading. Over the week, the contract recorded a 1.26% increase.
“Decent export numbers from May 1–15 are providing price support,” said a Kuala Lumpur-based trader.
Independent cargo surveyors AmSpec Agri Malaysia and Intertek Testing Services estimated Malaysia’s palm oil exports rose between 6.6% and 14.2% during the first half of May compared to the same period in April.
Meanwhile, global vegetable oil markets moved in the opposite direction. The most active soybean oil contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange fell 0.84%, while palm oil for June delivery dropped 0.91%. On the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), soybean oil futures also came under pressure, falling by 1.7%.
