PALMOILMAGAZINE, EAST KOTAWARINGIN — The Tri Daya Village Cooperative (KUD Tri Daya) in Parenggean Subdistrict, East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to sustainable palm oil cultivation. Utilizing funds from the RSPO Smallholder Credit Scheme, the cooperative has launched several social and environmental initiatives that directly benefit its farmer members.

The cooperative’s latest initiative is the construction of a borewell with a water storage capacity of up to 10,600 liters, aimed at supporting smallholders’ daily agricultural needs. Water from the borewell is distributed to several collection points across member plantations, with storage tanks placed every 100 meters. This facility not only helps farmers with irrigation and spraying but also provides access to clean water for post-harvest activities and field sanitation.

According to the cooperative’s ISPO and RSPO Certification Manager, the project is part of KUD Tri Daya’s broader effort to ensure that RSPO credit funds are channeled back to benefit farmers directly. “In addition to supporting education, healthcare, and environmental management, we allocate RSPO credit funds to improve basic infrastructure that farmers need to enhance plantation productivity,” he stated in an official release quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com on Monday (October 20, 2025).

He added that the availability of sufficient water in plantations significantly improves work efficiency and crop quality. “With the construction of this borewell and water storage system, farmers can better manage their fields because water is always available for spraying and other daily activities,” he said.

KUD Tri Daya has held RSPO certification since 2022, marking its position as one of Central Kalimantan’s leading sustainable palm oil cooperatives. Since obtaining the certification, the cooperative has consistently allocated part of its RSPO credit funds to implement the Smallholder Social Responsibility (SSR) program — a community empowerment initiative focused on improving farmer welfare and the quality of life in surrounding communities.

Through transparent fund management and continuous innovation, KUD Tri Daya is not only enhancing its members’ livelihoods but also making tangible contributions to environmental preservation. Practical actions such as the borewell construction stand as clear proof that sustainable palm oil is more than a slogan — it is a collective commitment by farmers to build a greener and more productive future.
