PALOILMAGAZINE, KATINGAN – The Central Kalimantan Provincial Plantation Agency (Disbun Kalteng), through the Plantation Protection and Seed Supervision Center (BP3B), continues to enhance the monitoring of palm oil seed quality to ensure the distribution of high-standard seeds in the region. As part of this initiative, David Hariyanto, Head of BP3B, alongside the Plantation Seed Supervision Team, conducted an inspection at the CV. Wira Nusantara Cipta nursery in Handiwung Village, Tasik Payawan District, Katingan Regency, last Wednesday.
Rizky Ramadhana Badjuri, Head of the Central Kalimantan Plantation Agency, emphasized the importance of high-quality, certified palm oil seeds. “Ensuring the availability of superior and certified seeds is our top priority, as Central Kalimantan is the second-largest palm oil plantation region in Indonesia. However, the widespread circulation of counterfeit seeds remains a significant challenge,” said David, as reported by Palmoilmagazine.com on Monday (03/03/2025).
To address this issue, BP3B is committed to strengthening seed quality control, ensuring that only certified and labeled superior seeds reach farmers. During the recent inspection, the team verified that CV. Wira Nusantara Cipta’s nursery adhered to the required standards. The nursery supplies D x P TN.1 seed varieties sourced from PT. Bakti Tani Nusantara, Batam.
Enhancing Compliance with New Seed Certification Standards
Beyond quality monitoring, BP3B also conducted a socialization program on the latest guidelines for palm oil seed nurseries and certification. These guidelines are based on Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 4 of 2025, aimed at ensuring stricter compliance with nursery standards.
Etchel Wira Cipta, Director of CV. Wira Nusantara Cipta and Secretary of the Association of Plantation Seed Producers of Central Kalimantan, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to seed quality. “We are dedicated to continuously improving the quality of palm oil seeds by adhering to the latest nursery standards,” he stated.
This initiative aligns with the Huma Betang priority program led by Central Kalimantan Governor H. Agustiar Sabran and Deputy Governor H. Edy Pratowo, which seeks to promote sustainable and high-quality palm oil development. By tightening supervision and implementing better nursery standards, the Central Kalimantan Plantation Agency aims to boost plantation productivity while protecting farmers from substandard seeds.
