PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – Indonesia’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are once again proving that local creativity can thrive on the global stage through sustainability. The Kampoeng Batik Laweyan Development Forum (FPKBL) and SpaFactory Bali have officially earned the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Supply Chain Certification (SCC), marking a significant step forward in aligning creative industries with international environmental standards.
FPKBL, known for its innovative palm-based batik wax, has expanded into decorative and aromatherapy candles with support from Daemeter. These products made their debut at Indonesia’s largest craft exhibition, INACRAFT 2025, held from October 1–5 in Jakarta. Meanwhile, SpaFactory Bali presented its BOEMI Botanical personal care line, also RSPO SCC-certified. Together, these MSMEs demonstrate that sustainability can flourish not only upstream in the palm oil supply chain but also directly in consumer products.
This achievement was made possible through strong collaboration. WWF Indonesia and CECT Trisakti University provided technical guidance during the certification process, while Control Union acted as the auditor.
“Thanks to everyone who supported us,” said Alpha Febela Priyatmoko, Chairperson of FPKBL, during the Craft Talks session attended by Palmoilmagazine.com on Wednesday (Oct 1, 2025). “This commitment shows that creativity and sustainability can go hand in hand. With this certification, our batik-based MSME can now access international markets.”

RSPO also praised the milestone. Dr. M. Windrawan Inantha, Deputy Director of Market Transformation at RSPO Indonesia, described it as an important step in strengthening domestic consumption of sustainable palm oil products.
“This is not only about smallholders upstream but also MSMEs downstream. With sustainability meets creativity, we’re building a tangible sustainable supply chain that connects all the way from plantations to consumers,” he explained.
The certification ceremony took place during the Craft Talk session themed “Sustainability Meets Creativity” at INACRAFT 2025. Gayan Wejesiriwardana, Managing Director of Control Union Indonesia, noted, “Certifying MSMEs proves that sustainability standards are within reach for small enterprises. Local creativity can now stand alongside global benchmarks, boosting consumer trust in the process.”
The accomplishments of FPKBL and SpaFactory Bali are expected to inspire broader progress within Indonesia’s creative and tourism sectors. From batik wax to personal care, sustainable palm-based products are now not only beautiful but also educational—showing that everyday goods can become powerful symbols of Indonesia’s journey toward a greener, more sustainable future.
