Malaysia CPO futures weakened across most contracts on Thursday (Oct. 15), pressured by lower soybean oil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade. The November CPO contract fell RM84 to RM4,476/ton, while Indonesia’s KPBN Inacom CPO price moved in the opposite direction, rising IDR 38/kg to IDR 14,988/kg.
PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Malaysia’s crude palm oil (CPO) futures ended mostly lower on Thursday (Oct. 15, 2026), as weakness in competing vegetable oils, particularly soybean oil traded on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), weighed on market sentiment.
According to Bernama, the October 2026 CPO contract was unchanged at RM4,427/ton. The November contract fell RM84 to RM4,476/ton, while December declined RM81 to RM4,619/ton.

Selling pressure extended into 2027 contracts. January CPO fell RM85 to RM4,725/ton, while February dropped RM85 to RM4,815/ton. The March contract declined RM79 to RM4,899/ton.
The broad-based declines indicate that downward pressure remained across the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives CPO curve, with movements in competing vegetable oils continuing to influence palm oil market sentiment.
CPO Trading Volume Rises
Despite the decline in futures prices, trading activity on Bursa Malaysia increased. CPO futures volume reached 133,700 lots, up from 124,058 lots in the previous session on Wednesday (Oct. 14).
Open interest, however, declined to 333,964 contracts from 335,045 contracts previously, indicating a reduction in outstanding positions at the end of the trading session.

In the physical market, the benchmark southern Malaysian CPO price for October delivery also weakened, falling RM60 to RM4,440/ton.
KPBN Inacom CPO Price Moves Higher
Indonesia’s domestic CPO market moved in the opposite direction.
The CPO price at the PT Kharisma Pemasaran Bersama Nusantara (KPBN) Inacom tender on Thursday rose IDR 38/kg, or about 0.25%, to IDR 14,988/kg from IDR 14,950/kg on Wednesday (Oct. 14).

The increase came as most CPO futures contracts in Malaysia declined. However, the divergent movements do not necessarily indicate a direct inverse relationship between the two markets.
Malaysia’s futures market and Indonesia’s KPBN tender operate under different trading mechanisms and are influenced by differences in currency, delivery basis, market structure and local supply-demand conditions.
Nevertheless, both markets remain important indicators for palm oil industry participants. Bursa Malaysia reflects developments in CPO futures, while KPBN Inacom tender results provide a reference for domestic CPO prices based on specific delivery points.
