Indonesia has raised the October 2026 CPO reference price by 3.44% to USD 1,042.15 per metric ton, setting the export duty at USD 178 and the export levy at USD 130.269 per metric ton.
PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA — Indonesia has set the reference price for crude palm oil (CPO) at USD 1,042.15 per metric ton for the October 1–31, 2026 period, up USD 34.64, or 3.44%, from USD 1,007.51 per metric ton in September.
The reference price will be used to calculate Indonesia’s CPO export duty and export levy for October.

Director General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade Tommy Andana said the government has set the CPO export duty at USD 178 per metric ton and the export levy at 12.5% of the reference price, equivalent to USD 130.269 per metric ton.
“The CPO reference price for October 2026 has increased compared with September 2026. Based on the applicable Finance Ministry regulation, the government has imposed a CPO export duty of USD 178 per metric ton and an export levy of 12.5% of the CPO reference price, or USD 130.269 per metric ton, for October 2026,” Tommy said in a statement cited on Thursday (Oct. 1).

Three Price Sources Used
Tommy said the October CPO reference price was determined using average CPO prices recorded from Aug. 20 to Sept. 19, 2026, across three benchmark sources.
The Indonesian CPO exchange recorded an average price of USD 938.89 per metric ton, while the Malaysian CPO exchange averaged USD 1,145.42 per metric ton. Rotterdam’s CPO price averaged USD 1,526.56 per metric ton.

The wide gap among the three price sources triggered a specific calculation method under Indonesia’s trade regulations.
Under Trade Ministry Regulation No. 35 of 2025, when the difference between the average prices from the three sources exceeds USD 40 per metric ton, the CPO reference price is calculated using the average of the two sources whose prices are closest to the median.
Based on that provision, the Indonesian and Malaysian CPO exchanges were used to determine the October reference price.
The resulting CPO reference price was set at USD 1,042.15 per metric ton.
