PALMOILMAGAZINE, GORONTALO — The Gorontalo Provincial Government is moving swiftly to comply with five recommendations issued by Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) aimed at improving palm oil governance across the region. The accelerated follow-up was discussed during an evaluation meeting led by Governor Gusnar Ismail at the Governor’s Official Residence on Wednesday (26/11/2025). Representatives from the Gorontalo, Boalemo, and Pohuwato regencies—three key palm oil production areas—were also present.

KPK previously outlined five major recommendations following its monitoring and evaluation of the palm oil sector in Gorontalo. These include mapping the legal status of plantation business permits (IUP), ensuring proper collection of taxes and regional levies, identifying land issues and social conflicts, conducting community outreach, and resolving various licensing problems.

Governor Gusnar emphasized that regional governments have until 30 November 2025 to finalize all required follow-up actions. “We still have one to two days to perfect the report before submitting it to the KPK. All of these recommendations are beneficial to ensure that the palm oil industry truly contributes value to the region,” he said, as quoted by Palmoilmagazine.com from Antara on Sunday (30/11/2025).

Gorontalo’s Provincial Inspector, Zukri Surotinojo, reported that most of the recommendations have been addressed by both provincial and regency administrations. The compiled data will be reviewed by the KPK along with relevant ministries to determine further steps for strengthening palm oil governance.

“Alhamdulillah, nearly all requested points have been executed. A few remaining items still need to be pushed to completion before the November 30 deadline,” Zukri noted.

Once the report is submitted, the KPK will facilitate a follow-up meeting in Jakarta, bringing together local governments and technical ministries to formulate concrete solutions to key governance issues—from clarifying plantation permits to resolving land conflicts.

The Gorontalo Provincial Government hopes that these improvements will enhance the sector’s contribution to local revenue while reducing potential legal risks in the future. (P2)
