Agrinas Palma and Ashok Leyland Explore Partnership to Modernize Plantation Logistics and EV Fleet

PALMOILMAGAZINE, JAKARTA – PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) is exploring potential collaboration with global commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland, a flagship company of the Hinduja Group, as part of its efforts to modernize plantation logistics, accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and support downstream agribusiness development.

According to a company statement received by Palmoilmagazine.com  on Friday (July 24), the exploratory meeting was led by Agrinas Palma President Director Mohammad Abdul Ghani, accompanied by Vice President Director Kusdi Sastro Kidjan, Operations Director Tuhu Bangun, Business Director Nurhidayat, Marketing Director Mohammad Wais Fansuri, and other members of the company’s management team. Ashok Leyland was represented by senior executives who presented the company’s capabilities and discussed potential areas of cooperation.

During the meeting, Ashok Leyland outlined its global expertise as one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, highlighting its experience in producing trucks, buses, defense vehicles, and electric vehicles.

Agrinas Palma, meanwhile, presented its operational priorities, particularly the need to strengthen logistics systems for transporting Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) and its long-term commitment to adopting more environmentally friendly technologies through the gradual transition of its vehicle fleet to electric vehicles.

The discussion extended beyond vehicle procurement, covering broader collaboration opportunities in plantation development, logistics supply chain enhancement, cassava-based bioethanol production, the utilization of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) as a feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and expanding international trade in palm oil and downstream products.

Both companies emphasized that discussions remain at an exploratory stage, with any future collaboration subject to further technical and commercial evaluation based on each party’s strategic priorities.

Agrinas Palma also reaffirmed that any future vehicle procurement would follow the company’s established procurement procedures, ensuring an open, transparent, competitive, and accountable process that provides equal opportunities for all qualified suppliers.

As a next step, the two parties agreed to continue technical discussions to evaluate vehicle specifications, commercial aspects, and other potential partnerships capable of delivering mutual value. The meeting is expected to serve as an initial step toward building long-term strategic cooperation that supports Indonesia’s plantation sector and downstream industrial development. (P3)
